The FOR2722 research group investigates the role of the extracellular matrix in the musculoskeletal system, particularly in the development of chronic musculoskeletal diseases. The interdisciplinary collaboration between basic and translational research groups from Cologne, Münster and Frankfurt will lead to a better understanding of the molecular causes and treatment options. Projects with scientific excellence and interdisciplinary expertise promote synergistic effects. The aim is to gain new mechanistic insights into the function of the extracellular matrix and to develop innovative approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases.
